|Wang Yi: Four Keywords Should Be Highlighted in the Development of China-Kyrgyzstan Relations|
On May 21, 2019, when jointly meeting the press with Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov of Kyrgyzstan after their talks in Bishkek, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed that the two foreign ministers fully recognized the substantial development of China-Kyrgyzstan relations, and believed the following four keywords should be highlighted in bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership in the next step.
First, maintain stability. No matter how the international, regional and respective domestic situation may change, China-Kyrgyzstan friendly relations should not be disturbed, nor should it be hindered by difficulties. The sound and stable development of bilateral relations should be guaranteed.
Second, uphold equality. Both sides should always uphold mutual respect and equal treatment, despite differences in size, development stage, and social system.
Third, deepen cooperation. Both sides will jointly well implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, accelerate the alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040, and constantly deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, so as to boost respective development of the two countries and their common prosperity.
Fourth, guarantee security. Security is a need of people as well as a premise for development. The two countries have signed the cooperation document on combating the "three forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and will further deepen coordination and cooperation in such fields as counter-terrorism, fighting against transnational organized crime, drug control, cyber security, international fugitive repatriation and security of large-scale activities.
Wang Yi expressed that China and Kyrgyzstan enjoy a long-standing tradition of exchanges, and the two peoples share a natural affinity. The Chinese side will forever be the most trustworthy, closest and most enduring friend of the Kyrgyz side. Both sides are full of confidence in the development prospect of China-Kyrgyzstan relations. The Chinese side is willing to pursue common development and common prosperity with the Kyrgyz side.
