Wang Qishan Visits Mongolia

At the invitation of Prime Minister Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh of Mongolia, Vice President Wang Qishan visited Mongolia from July 10 to 12, 2019. He met respectively with Prime Minister Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, Chairman of the State Great Hural Gombojav Zandanshatar of Mongolia and President Khaltmaa Battulga of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar, and attended the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Mongolia.

When meeting with Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, Wang Qishan said, China and Mongolia are close neighbours that can never be moved away. The Chinese side places China-Mongolia relations at an important position in its neighborhood diplomacy and constantly adds new connotation and vitality to bilateral relations. Mongolia is welcome to board the express train of China's economic development and boost in-depth alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Development Road Initiative, so that the economic and trade cooperation between China and Mongolia can bear more substantial fruits. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Mongolian side to host the third China-Mongolia Expo and make it a success, strengthen border port exchanges and infrastructure construction, and promote the construction of a China-Mongolia border of lasting stability and common development and prosperity. It is proposed that a series of heart-warming, down-to-earth and influential exchange and celebration activities to be held for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship, so as to continuously enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples and consolidate the foundation of friendship between China and Mongolia. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Mongolian side, strengthen cooperation at national and local levels, actively promote the trilateral cooperation among China, Mongolia and Russia, and accelerate the construction progress of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor.

Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh said, developing good-neighborly, friendly and mutually beneficial cooperative relations with China has always been the priority of Mongolia's foreign policy. The Chinese side's concept of neighborhood diplomacy featuring amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness has greatly promoted Mongolia-China relations. The sound alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Development Road Initiative is always benefiting the two peoples. The Mongolian side admires China's development achievements, thanks the Chinese side for its selfless assistance, supports the Belt and Road Initiative, and adheres to the One-China principle. The Mongolian side stands ready to expand practical cooperation with China in various fields and constantly enrich the connotation of comprehensive strategic partnership in line with the principles of mutual respect for territorial and sovereign integrity, respect for each other's development paths and equality and mutual benefit.

Prior to the meeting, Wang Qishan attended a grand welcome ceremony held by Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh at the Government Palace. After the meeting, the two sides witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents such as the establishment of sister cities and the construction of auxiliary facilities of rehabilitation centers for disabled children. The two sides also unveiled the completion of a new airport expressway and the commencement of the Nalaikh road funded and built by the Chinese side.

When meeting with Gombojav Zandanshatar, Wang Qishan said, China's continuous development will create greater development opportunities for all countries in the world including Mongolia, and the Chinese side is willing to exchange and share development experience with the Mongolian side. Exchanges between legislative bodies are an important part of political exchanges between China and Mongolia. The two sides can learn from each other in state governance and administration and the building of legal system. The two sides should continue to strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges of various forms and cultivate new forces for the development of bilateral relations.

Gombojav Zandanshatar said, the Belt and Road Initiative has become a new mode of global cooperation in the new century and for a new era. The Mongolian side highly appreciates China's mutually beneficial and win-win foreign policy and global influence. The Mongolian side insists that Xi Zang and Taiwan are inseparable parts of China, and these relevant issues are China's internal affairs. The Mongolian side is ready to deepen friendly exchanges between the ruling parties of the two countries.

When meeting with Khaltmaa Battulga, Wang Qishan said, friendly cooperation has always been the mainstream of China-Mongolia relations for the past 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relationship. At present, bilateral relations stand at a new historical starting point. China and Mongolia should firmly follow the correct political direction and be strategic partners of mutual respect and trust, cooperative partners of mutual benefit and reciprocity, friendly partners with frequent exchanges and partners of mutual assistance at the multilateral level. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Mongolian side to maintain high-level guidance, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and non-governmental exchanges, strengthen regional and international cooperation and continuously enrich the connotation of comprehensive strategic partnership.

Khaltmaa Battulga said, Mongolia-China relations have gone through different stages of development over the past 70 years and have become a model of friendly cooperation among countries. The Mongolian side is willing to push forward the development of bilateral relations on the basis of respecting each other's core interests and major concerns, and further strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other fields, so as to promote common prosperity.

During his visit to Mongolia, Wang Qishan and Deputy Prime Minister Ulziisaikhan Enkhtuvshin of Mongolia also attended a gathering marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship, presented awards to outstanding and friendly people contributing to China-Mongolia relations and attended the opening ceremony of the Naadam festival.
