On July 21, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Beijing.
Wang Yi expressed, the UAE is China's important and reliable partner in the Middle East, and the two countries have always supported each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns. Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit coincides with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and the UAE. The Chinese side stands ready to work with the UAE side to well implement the consensus reached by the two countries' leaders, deepen the partnership of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, promote cooperation in various fields, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism and law enforcement, and bring the China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership to higher levels.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said, for the past 35 years since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the UAE and China, bilateral relations have been developing in a sustained and stable manner. It is believed that bilateral relations will enjoy better development in the next 35 years. Calling China is a great country, and the UAE side attaches great importance to developing its relations with China and is willing to be a reliable and sincere partner of the Chinese side. The UAE side is willing to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side in trade, investment, energy, culture, education and third-market cooperation, and intensify coordination and cooperation in the United Nations and regional affairs, so as to push bilateral cooperation for greater development. The UAE side regards the Chinese side as an important cooperation partner in counter-terrorism. The best approach for counter-terrorism is to root out radicalization. China's policy on deradicalization has been very successful, and its positive influences will become more evident.
