|State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi Speaks by Phone with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi|
On 15 April, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Wang recalled President Arif Alvi's special visit to China at a crucial moment in China's fight against COVID-19 as well as the firm support he conveyed in person to the Chinese leadership, which, he noted, will always be remembered by the Chinese people. He said the situation in Pakistan is in the hearts and minds of the Chinese people. Various sectors of the society have acted spontaneously to help Pakistani brothers and sisters as much as they can, including making donations in cash and in kind. The Chinese government has sent several batches of supplies and a team of medical experts to Pakistan, and shared experience on epidemic control and treatment in a video conference between experts of the two countries. China will continue to do all it can to support Pakistan in light of its needs and help it defeat the disease at an early date.
Foreign Minister Qureshi thanked China for its valuable support to Pakistan, which has greatly helped the country's efforts to contain the virus. In the face of this unprecedented global public health as well as economic crisis, China has responded with targeted, strong and effective measures. Pakistan commended China for its success. Pakistan is ready to step up cooperation with China, and further deepen the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries in the joint fight against the virus.
