On 19 August, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov on the phone.
Wang expressed China’s solidarity with Kyrgyzstan for the difficulties caused by COVID-19. As a friendly neighbor and comprehensive strategic partner, China will continue to help Kyrgyzstan to prevail over the virus. He expressed China’s readiness to work with Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries to enhance political mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation through this new platform. This would inject fresh impetus to the relations between China and the Central Asian countries.
On behalf of Kyrgyzstan, Aidarbekov extended sympathies on the floods hitting southern China. He applauded China’s important accomplishments in COVID-19 response, and expressed gratitude for China’s selfless assistance. Kyrgyzstan sees in China a good neighbor, good friend and good partner forever. It will stay committed to growing its comprehensive strategic partnership and good neighborliness with China.
Aidarbekov expressed Kyrgyzstan’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation across the board to the benefit of the two peoples. Kyrgyzstan fully supports China in launching the mechanism of foreign ministers’ meeting with Central Asian countries, and looks forward to closer regional cooperation and fruitful results through this new dialogue platform.
