2020-11-26

On November 26, 2020 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with former Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in Seoul.

Wang Yi said that he once again feels China-ROK relations are at a high level during the current visit amid COVID-19. China is deeply appreciative of the valuable assistance and support offered by the ROK government and its people at the most critical juncture of China's fight against the pandemic. The two countries joined hands in overcoming the difficulties brought by the pandemic. They were the first to launch joint prevention and control mechanism, to effectively put the pandemic under control, to establish "fast track" for necessary personnel exchanges, and to collaborate on work and production resumption, which has become the benchmark of international anti-pandemic cooperation. It has been proved that China and the ROK are friendly neighbors, and close partners as well. China is ready to work with the ROK to expand all-around exchanges and cooperation and advance the bilateral relations to a new height.

Lee Hae-chan said that all parts of the ROK society attach great importance to the ROK-China relations. They are optimistic about China's future development and the cooperation prospects of the two countries, and are committed to pushing forward the bilateral relations and bringing more benefits to the two peoples.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues of common concern.
